| 3 provocative short
films from Moldova, a discussion and a bit of wine |

Alumni joined newly appointed Moldovan Ambassador Angela Ponomariov and guests from the Moldovan Embassy and community in London for a screening of three provocative, insightful and engaging short Moldovan films, followed by a conversation with the film directors.
These three films were each approximately 20 minutes in length and are in Romanian with English subtitles. The first, entitled “Ana” and directed by Natalia Saufert, is a disquieting tale of the consequences of sexual abuse in a small village. “The Escape” (“Evadarea”), directed by Nicolae Negara, reflects on the state and status of disabled young people in the country. Finally,“Chers Amis”, by director Valeriu Andriuta, presents a slice of administrative life in a small-town school, revealing profound problems in a society still mired in a sad past but looking to a better future.
The screening at EBRD headquarters was followed by a short discussion and Q&A session with all three film directors. Following this, there was a sampling of Moldovan wine at a drinks reception for all participants.
