Film screening "Homo Novus" and "Riga's Art Nouveau in Art and Architecture"

Alumni joined HE Ambassador Baiba Braze and members of the Latvian community in London for an evening of Latvian culture.

The Bank was screening the Latvian film “Homo Novus" (120 minutes, Latvian with English subtitles) followed by a brief discussion with the film's director, Anna Viduleja.

"Homo Novus" is an award-winning, romantic comedy of errors and intrigues, set in Latvia in the late 1930's. It is a colourful portrait of pre-war, independent Latvia and its lively bohemian scene.

As a backdrop to the screening, the Bank hosted a travelling art exhibition entitled "Riga's Art Nouveau in Art and Architecture", courtesy of the Riga Art Nouveau Centre and the Riga City Council.

This event was organised by the EBRD Cultural Programme and the Embassy of the Republic of Latvia.
