This poetic study of the lives of fishermen on the island of Hvar uses minimal dialogue to tell the tale of the depredations of tourism and the impact of greed on traditional values.

An imaginary dialogue between generations is used to celebrate a way of life and a uniquely Croatian identity in danger of disappearing.

The film’s director, Chiara Bove Makiedo, attended and participated in a Q&A session with the audience after the film (68 minutes).

This cultural programme event was preceded by a joint EBRD / Business Emerging Europe discussion at 16.00. “Outlook on Croatia” brought together policymakers, investors and business people to discuss the economic outlook and investment opportunities in the country.
