The town of Kovačica in the Vojvodina region of Serbia has been home to a Slovak minority since the early 19th century when the Vojvodina region and Slovakia were part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Inspired by the French naïve artists of the 1920s, a group of local painters has emerged and developed their own unique, colourful style. Their works have been housed and promoted by the Babka Kovačica Foundation.

Alumni were invited to join members of the Slovak and Serbian communities in London on 19 June at 17:30 EBRD headquarters for an exhibition of paintings by these Slovak artists and a drinks reception.
