EBRD Cultural Events: The Baltic Way - The Next 30 Years

25 September 2019

How We Shape our Future

Panel discussion and reception at the EBRD

On 23 August 1989 nearly two million people in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania linked hands to form a 400-mile long human chain. They came together peacefully across the borders of three nations to advocate independence from the Soviet Union. This historic event came to be known as “the Baltic Way”.

We commemorate the 30th anniversary of this event, discuss the present and look into the future. What will the next 30 years bring? What does the future hold and what can be learnt from the example of the Baltic nations’ path to economic and political freedom?

Please join us on Wednesday 25 September 2019 from 17.15 to 21.00 for what promises to be a thought-provoking discussion followed by a drinks reception for all.
